No More Sidelines continues to have Fund Raisers so that we can continue to provide these activities for the kids at no cost to you.
We would appreciate your participation and also ask that you spread the word on these events so that we have a great turnout!.

In January 2006, No More Sidelines was founded after my daughter, Alivia, who has cerebral palsy and autism, expressed her desire to play sports and have friendships like her siblings.   I set out to make sure that Alivia had all the opportunities afforded to mainstream kids.  No More Sidelines was started with seven children with special needs, a few volunteers, and lots of bake sales to come up with the funds for uniforms and equipment to provide year-round activities.

Those seven kids formed friendships, invited acquaintances and spread the word. I personally felt there were other families with similar struggles, but the community had a much bigger need than even I had imagined.  Here we are, four years later, and No More Sidelines currently has more than 250 participants. There are      no more sidelines for our kids; they now belong to a team that accepts and believes in their success. The skills gained through participation in sports are exciting, but what it’s really all about is the sense of belonging to a team!   A huge achievement gained this year is a sense of community and integration into the public schools. We are so excited to have 13 of the local high schools our children attend and 4 colleges participating in integrated clinics & games. General education kids learn that No More Sidelines kids are more like them than they ever imagined. They both have the same desires for friendship & belonging.

What a thrilling year it has been! Our calendar was packed with monthly community events. The excitement of outdoor camping was for many, a new adventure.  The kids loved dressing up in formal attire to attend the Valentine dinner & dance. Our kids gave back this year by Christmas caroling at a local Senior Center.  Twisting Trails Snowmobile group gave even children in wheelchairs the opportunity for their first sleigh ride. Other activities we were involved in were Port City Princess, West Shore Symphony, Muskegon Thunder Arena football (co-sponsored by Huntington Bank), Lumberjack hockey, movies, Craig’s Cruisers, and much more.

THE NEED IS BIG, and THE WORD IS OUT!  No More Sidelines of Lansing, our first new chapter has made its debut! We are so excited that others across the state share in our mission to help children with special needs become accepted members of their community!  With our continued growth and expansion we are in absolute need of a facility to support our mission and provide a “home” for this very important group.  This has become our goal for 2010, but we need your help!

We are pleased to announce the Fourth Annual “Set The Stage” Gala on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Trillium Banquet & Conference Center.  We hope that you will join us in making this year’s Gala all that it can be!  By doing so, you become part of a team that is making a positive and lasting change in the lives of people in this community.  It will be an unforgettable night with incredible raffles, silent and live auction items, cocktails, fine dining, great music and dancing.

Below is the sponsorship information.  I encourage you to add your name to the list of those who support this important fundraising event for No More Sidelines.  I look forward to seeing you on March 20, 2010

Thank you for your consideration,
